Having children is one of life’s greatest blessings. It also increases your stress levels, causes you to worry a lot and even brings sadness. Children are curious and love to explore. Because of their curiosity, they will want to explore areas of your home and other places that they should not explore. Here are some tips for preventing your child from suffering burn injuries.
Check the electrical plugs and cords in your home to make sure they are not covered in dust or dirt and are not fraying. If so, clean them off or replace them. You should never use a cord or plug that is frayed.
Keep your child out of the kitchen when you have the oven on or the stove activated. If you have placed a hot dish on the counter or table, never walk away from it if your child is in their highchair and make sure it is well out of their reach.
Keep all lighters, matches and candles out of the reach of your child. Do not light any decorative candles until your child is down for a nap, in the playpen or asleep at night, especially if they can crawl or walk.
Teach your child about fire safety early and often. Let them know what to do in the event of a fire and that they should never play with fire.
Always check the temperature of the shower or bathtub water prior to letting your child get in so it is not too hot. If it is, add some cool water to the bath or empty it completely and start again.
Burn injuries are serious and can lead to death. Preventing your child from suffering a burn injury can help save their life one day. Make sure you follow the tips outlined in today’s post to keep your child safe at all times.
